Reiki (pronounced RAY KEY) means universal life force and is a wonderful, safe, gentle and relaxing therapy.
Having experienced Reiki personally several years ago, with amazing effect, I was determined to learn the art to pass on to others. Reiki is the channelling of the universal energy, which surrounds us all, for the benefit of the recipient. Reiki works on all levels of the mind, body and spirit, for the greatest benefit of your emotional, physical and spiritual wellbeing. It may appear to be a difficult concept to understand at first, however, once experienced, most people find it a very relaxing, positive experience. It does not require you to believe in it for it to work for you, nor does it matter what your beliefs or religious preferences are. Reiki works for everyone, regardless.
What to expect:
The first session is generally 90 minutes, as we will spend time discussing any particular concerns and requirements prior to you receiving Reiki. Subsequent sessions last for 50 – 60 minutes and I usually advise an initial series of 4 sessions. There are no contra-indications for Reiki so anyone can benefit from the relaxing healing experience. During a Reiki treatment, most people prefer to be lying down although it is possible to receive Reiki sitting in a chair – the most important thing is that you are in a comfortable position. You will remain fully dressed throughout the treatment and it is advisable to wear comfortable loose clothing and to remove any jewellery, belts etc beforehand. Soft music will be played helping you to relax and drift off, transporting you to a place where you feel safe and untroubled, free from cares and worries.
The Reiki experience differs from person to person, many people experience hot and cold sensations, tingling or the feeling of floating on air.
Reiki can aid the removal of toxins from the body and to ensure they are easily flushed out, I advise clients to drink plenty of water after the session. Some people feel emotional following a session – this is perfectly normal and can be a sign of the energy moving around the body.
