We like to think of childhood as a carefree time, however, children, like sponges, absorb everything that goes on around them. This can mean that sometimes they worry, unnecessarily, about issues, perhaps friendships, problems at school, death or the dark. These issues can sometimes present in negative behaviours, such as fears, bed wetting or nail biting. Added to this, exam stress or comparing themselves to friends or siblings can leave a child with a lack of confidence, feeling insecure and even occasionally producing symptoms of panic.
Hypnotherapy and EFT are great ways to get your child back on track and can help them release negative emotions, let go of bad habits and feel confident in their own unique abilities in a very safe and natural way. Children have such a wonderful capacity for imagination and both Hypnotherapy and EFT can be excellent choices for parents who want to find a lasting solution to their child’s problem.
I work with children from the age of 6yrs upwards. When working with young children, I enjoy entering their world, helping them resolve issues by using stories which engage their imagination. Older children and teenagers also respond very well to these techniques and following a full consultation, therapy will always be age appropriate and fit the requirements of the client. In my experience, children are generally very comfortable with the idea of Hypnotherapy and EFT and easily accept the ideas and suggestions given to them.
It’s important to note, when attending a consultation, a parent or guardian must accompany all children under the age of 16yrs. I will ask for your view of the problem, as well as your child’s and following discussion, with both you and your child, it will be decided whether you remain in the room during the therapy or just outside, where you will always be within earshot. Not all Hypnotherapists work with children, so in the absence of a referral, it’s advisable to seek the guidance of a professional Hypnotherapy organisation.
